This book gets involved with more complex reading. The vast majority of the
words are still of one syllable but two syllable words are becoming more common and some
words of three syllables are being introduced. The reading sections are now becoming two,
three, or more pages long. Like the earlier books, there are frequent moral lessons,
including reading lessons about stealing and lying, and
even the first lesson in the value of temperence.
