The Civil War Musket: A Handbook for Historical Accuracy -- Lock, Stock and Barrel

This book was published with the assistance of The Watchdog as part of an effort to inprove the historical accuracy of reenactors. Because a musket is an item carried by most infantrymen, it is a fitting topic to address. The results as presented in this book show that, just because a musket is being sold by a vendor, it isn't necessarily historically accurate.

This book contains histories of what are probably the three most commonly used muskets for reenacting; the Enfield, Springfield, and Model 1842 Smoothbore. It also provides some very candid discussion of the pros and cons of different versions of the reproduced firearms from the various manufacturers as well as some directions for the care of your musket after your purchase.

This is a good reference, even for veteran reenactors, and, of course, is invaluable for someone about to purchase a musket.

155 pages. 8 1/2 by 11 inch format. Paperbound.

Price: $27.95
